I don't mean to change the subject...but your points have put this question in my mind...and I cannot start a new topic for awhile...
I am not talking about revenge.....I am talking of misleading or preying on someone for money, control, or power over them...whether you use a gun, knife, or simply outsmart them to get what you want from them.
Should we continue to have the right to do this if we choose? Is there anything good or productive to be gained by preying on others in any fashion?
when i became a jw and started getting serious about it, i discovered that i should throw all my medals and trophies out.
it was such a long time ago and i don't remember why now.
could someone explain to me why i had to do that?
Do they also command their followers to throw away their Diplomas and degrees as well? WTF?
I cannot believe people fall for their crap as easy as they do.
That is a really brillant command....perhaps they need to write a Awake this week to warn high school kids to drop out of school right before graduation so they will not recieve an idol called a diploma.

FHN...I understand what you are saying too....that we are shaped by our past experineces..and those in control at that time.....can we blame a person for being self destructive who was someones prey earlier in their life...or do they become responsible for the after effects of their crime instead of their victim? (who leaves victims as well when they take their lives for relief from the pain)
Should we have the right to hurt or prey upon others if we choose or want to? Or should that right/freedom be revoked for the greater good of mankind?
it has been 13 years since i flew the coop,so i am not sure what changes or might i say new insight has come about.. here is the problem.
my mom who has been a witness for 18 years and is 73 years old has lymphoma of the brain.. in order to have a chance at all she is taking chemo and has decided to accept blood platlets.. she is still a loyal j.w.
and nothing has changed to her.she understands what she is doing but evidently thinks it won't matter.. under these circumstances does anyone know what or if they will take disciplinary action?.
Does it matter what the FDS thinks? Or does she view their opinion and wishes as God's?
Seems a shame to have your coinscience hurt by going against the wishes of a group of people who really have no clue what God wishes or wants...just claim to and get away with it..
Day and night you hurt thinking you went against God...and really you never did..it was them who forbid you who REALLY did!

FHN....When you think about it.........really think......is there a difference?
They are still hurting and endangering others by their decisions and choices....the ones who care about them are the ones they hurt the most too...Would they still do it...someone proved it to them?
If they did....what does that say about them and their true feeling towards those who care about and those they claim to care about in return? Does their continued bad choices prove them to be weak, liars, or self-centered?

The suicidal person cares more about their wishes than the effects their behavior has on those who love and care about them.....

It could almost be said...that a suicidal person if allow to carry out their plan....could become a murderer when a person who loved or depended upon them followed their example to deal with the pain their loss brought upon them....
Wow...I had never thought that far ahead on the subject.....what if The person asked all their loved ones for permission first...would it be ok then....or should they just sneak off before anyone realizes their plan?

They simply continue to present their guesses as new information and facts recieved in private to those God has choosen to be your leaders and whom you should be obeying without question.
Same old song and dance....and we have no way of discerning otherwise or proving otherwise other than the things they say and foretell not coming true. Even if a someone was given the divine answers to our questions and information on what it to come....how would we even know for certain they were not just presenting their personal guesses as God's words like everyone else is?

The person(s) who take on a job like that..trying to stop people from doing things like that to themselves and others...put themselves at great risk and care very little about their personal well-being..almost to the point of being self-destructive themselves in doing so.
How do you tell the person who is trying to help by restraining you...from the ones who are restraining/hindering you to further themselves and their personal plans? THAT is the question.
Both will be claiming to be doing so for your best interest (ie. watchtower and their rules and limits)
Are those rules and limit a powertrip for them......or a protection for you?
Is there ANY way to know for sure without being able to read their minds..or seeing into the future?

Does it matter? What they are teaching...and what they can PROVE or KNOW for certain are two completely different things anyway.
Only God has the correct answer to the question...all we have are guesses...and if he revealed the correct one to someone...how would we even know for sure it was not just a personal guess presented as a truth or fact like all the rest?
THAT is the whole problem with religion in general....unless you want to believe the person you choose to follow was given divine knowledge and answers...it is all guesses..unless you have faith in them and the fact that God choose them to be your leader(s).

I am also speaking of people who are doing self destructive things to themselves and others..and because they cannot see into the future or far enough ahead to realize it..what happens when someone brings these things to their attention? Are they seen as a friend or foe?
